    Posted: 28 Oct 2009 at 10:10am
Greetings all,

My ds is 1.5 years old and I think one of the heaviest wetters known to man. What's funny is that he's little (21lbs) at 19 months so I'm also having sizing vs absorbency issues. We're in disposables now but I'd like to do cloth at night. We do regular changes with bg3.0s and the standard inserts during the day.

I've got a dancing bear cover which is saving us right now from him leaking through the top of the disposable at night (he's a belly sleeper) and now I'm trying to figure out what to do on the inside. Ds rejected 2 prefolds (brown edge), 2 kissaluv doublers and a mf insert as too bulky. I've also tried 2 superdos but to no avail.

So what should I stuff with? I've read through a few of the posts and these look like likely candidates:
-DryBees Fleece Night Time Pocket Diaper
- Simply Nights Cloth Diapers
- Sandy'sâ„¢ Diaper ?
- goodmama goodnights

Which of these are trimmer? Which is the most absorbent? Did I miss one that would be better?

Your suggestions are much appreciated!

I like to use a ME Sandy's with a LL Flat pad folded as a doubler and cover it all with babyology longies (I have heard great things about Dancing Bears so I am sure it would do a great job too) DS sleeps 12 hours and wakes up soaked, but his sheets and PJ's are dry.

I was using Panda Tushie Bamboo doublers with great success too! They are 4 layers thick (and a great price!!) so I would lay one flat and then fold another one in 1/2 and put in the front since DS is a tummy sleeper too. It gives 12 extra layers of absorbancy in the front with out being super thick on the bum.

I think most night options are going to be rather "fluffy" but my LO's never had a problem with it. I tried PD's in the beginning of CDing and an ME Sandy's with a LL Flat or Panda Tushie Doublers was not nearly as bulky as trying to stuff a pocket with enough stuffing (and PD's still didn't work) Superdos were not anything special IMO, when I tried them. I had better luck with a LL Flat or the Panda Tushie Doublers to last through the night.

We could cut back during winter maybe, but during the summer months its too warm here not to let him hydrate as needed. (we find that he has less leak issues when we are not in higher elevation. Crazy, yeah?

don't use the goodmama goodnights, they're really not any more absorbant that reg. goodmamas.

suggestion: cut down on liquids, give the majority at least an hour before bed.

i am not sure what else to tell you other than try hemp-- like a hemp babies prefold. i have having some issues right now too, we were previously at 3 MF stuffers for a pocket diaper at night and now have moved to an infant pf+2 stuffers.

if he rejects anything w bulk, hemp is something you can try that will be trimmer.

I second Hemp!!!  It holds a lot but absorbs a bit more slowly so I add a bamboo doubler and it works great.

We are currently going through this right now.  We have decided to take away the cup of milk right at bedtime and move it to an earlier time as he is soaking and is unstoppable.  We took the milk last night and I was surprised that a brown edge pf w/ a red edge pf doubler under wool longies held him so well last night.
The Simply Nights is very absorbant for sure and I have heard great things about the Drybees but havent tried them.  I have wanted to try the Sandys but we are trying to make due w/ our pfs and flats since we will be PLing soon.

Pocket diapers don't work for us at night either, regardless of how much we stuff in there.  DD is a heavy wetter too.  Our best option has been a LL flat PF-folded with a pad-folded Hemp Babies Bigger Weeds, plus two or three hemp babies doublers, all pinned on.  We do either a double-layer wool interlock Royal Buns soaker and fleece pants, or a Large Thirsties cover.  Any nighttime option will be bulkier than a daytime dipe and certainly bulkier than a paper dipe, though.  I hope you're able to find something that works for you!

I think the most absorbant night diaper we have is a Holden's Landing Bedbug. I use mine under wool. It comes with 2 lay-in soakers. Some mamas say they only have to use one.

I just got a Sandy's yesterday. We used it last night with success!

I have a diffeernt suggestion, but may help. i have a super heavy wetter 19m girl and nothing worked, we even tried nighttime sposies which we changed at midnight. Still soaking in the morning. I was considering the bedbugs when DH had a better idea - put her on the potty at night. So now he just puts DD to pee on the potty 3-4 hours after she falls asleep and then changes her into snug-to-fit supreme with a hemp doubler. Works great. Is your lo a good sleeper? If he is maybe you can try it. DD doesn't even wake up while on the potty.

We just found our PERFECT nighttime diaper (as a pin gift from Balani, no less).  We use a not-so-flat wrap made with a flannel outer and hemp inner, then I pad-fold a Hemp Babies bigger weeds in it and stack a pad-folded LL flat on top of that, and put a Thirsties cover or wool over it.  No bulk on the hips and no leaks, and the snaps make it really easy to put on and take off, too.  It's the trimmest nighttime dipe we've ever had (she can walk, crawl, roll over easily) and it holds her for 12 hours solid.  Thumbs%20Up

I use BabyKicks Organic Fitted w/2 JoeyBunz & a trifolded pf. Topped w/wool it makes an extra fluffy butt, but no leaks
