    Posted: 05 Nov 2009 at 11:45pm
Okay, so I'm still three months out from my due date, but I got out my stash of newborn clothes anyway. What can I say, I was already switching DS's clothes from summer to winter. LOL

I didn't CD with DS, so I have no idea about CDing a newborn. I'm planning to do mostly PFs and either PUL covers and wool longies/bubbles. Obviously with the PUL covers you dress them the same, but what do you do with longies? Do you just get long-sleeve tees? DD will be a winter baby so I'm worried that her top and midriff will be cold. esp since I won't be able to tuck the shirts into her longies. When I looked through  my stash of clothes, basically all I have for the 0-6 month age is onsies and sleepers (plus a few cute outfits). I guess  if I got shorties instead of longies I could just put a roomy sleeper over it. Anyway, how do you dress a newborn/infant with wool?

Yeah, I'm curious about this, too, since I'm more into wool now than when ds was born.

I don't know what other people do for newborns in wool... but I plan on making our next babe a few pairs of overallies if we have a winter baby. Oh so cute!

Wool overalls sounds good, except does that cause wicking? I guess I could put a round of elastic at the waist to keep the shirt and PFs separate. Or maybe I just need to make my longies with a high panel (like maternity pants) so that even if her shirts ride up a bit her tummy is still covered?

yes the high waist makes sense for keeping warm with shirts. i always wondered why some longies had incredibly high waists!

My last dd was a January baby and we did a lot of dresses with her longies to keep her tummy covered.  Zutano has adorable dresses in a ton of cute prints.  You're pretty much sure to find something to match your wool. Wink

We didn't use our newborn longies a lot since DD was born in June, but when we did, we just put a t-shirt on her with them.  This fall we've been putting her in longies and long sleeve t-shirts.

We did have a pair of overalls for DS.  My mom made them and we didn't have any issues with wicking.

our longies were all high-waisted, too.  we did a lot of long-sleeved t-shirts and little hoodie sweatshirts, etc.

We use wool and either do t-shirts or "sleep and plays'" they are like sleepers but look a little more like clothes....some are with out feet, and look like they have shirts under them, etc.

I was thinking about this as an option too! It wouldn't work with a boy, but hey, I'm having a girl so I might as well live it up, right? Of course, I wasn't planning on buying an entirely new newborn wardrobe--the things we do to CD. LOL

Exactly! Wink  Dd came after two boys so I was definitely ready to go all out girly with her wardrobe, all in the name of cd'ing of course. LOL
